Talk to an ExpertREADING, Pa., September 12, 2006 - Today, Penske Truck Leasing announced that it ranked 11th overall on the 2006 InformationWeek 500 for the technological innovation it demonstrates in the transportation and logistics industries. Penske ranked first among its peers in the transportation and logistics category. This is the company's 6th consecutive year on the list. In 2005, Penske was ranked 21st overall, and was a runnerup in the transportation and logistics category.
"We are very pleased to receive this recognition and it is an honor to be regarded so highly among the many fine companies on this list," said William Stobbart, Senior Vice President - Information Technology, Penske Truck Leasing. "We are especially appreciative and proud of our technology associates around the globe, who play such an instrumental role supporting our own company's technology needs but also those of our customers."
This year's ranking was based in part upon several innovative IT and systems integration projects that helped Penske improve customer service while also saving millions of dollars annually through process improvements, overall cost reductions, and substantial employee productivity gains at both Penske Truck Leasing and its subsidiary Penske Logistics.
"We'd like to extend our sincere congratulations to all InformationWeek 500 honorees. These companies represent today's leading technology innovators," said InformationWeek publishing director, Fritz Nelson. "This group has prompted fascinating discussion on some of the most forward looking business technology initiatives to date."
For the past 18 years, InformationWeek has identified and honored the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
